BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Baseball is back in Birmingham. The Barons sold out their exhibition game Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. But that’s not the only thing that brought people out. Regions Field has a lot to offer. While some are serious about the game, others just come for the food.
People at Regions say there were record attendance numbers at the new park in 2013, so this season they’re bringing a few new things to hopefully bring those numbers up even more. One of the new additions is the steel city burger which they hope becomes a park staple. And it’s not just the food, Nick Dobreff of the Barons says there’s more to come this summer, including a pregame concert series on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Whether it’s the game, the food, or just the atmosphere, the critics all seem to have the same opinion about the Barons and their home park, they love it! It’s that type of response Regions and the Barons organization are hoping for. It’s a great way to keep downtown Birmingham growing.
