Mulga man arrested for burglary, assault in Hueytown

HUEYTOWN, Ala. (WIAT)  –  Police in Hueytown arrested a 27-year-old Mulga man for burglary and assault Sunday.

Brandon Donta Fowler was arrested Sunday and charged with burglary, theft, assault, carrying a concealed weapon, attempting to elude and resisting arrest.

Officers received reports of suspicious activity Sunday morning on Mitchell Road and responded to the area, according to the Hueytown Police Department. Police spotted Fowler and tried to interview him, but he was able to escape after a scuffle with an officer.

Hueytown police received reports of a burglary around the same time, and realized the two reports were related. A perimeter was established with the help of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Donaldson Correctional Facility dog team.

The dog team found Fowler hiding and he was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

“This case is the perfect example of community involvement, quick police response, and cooperation among multiple agencies to get the job done,” they Hueytown Police Department said on their Facebook page. “One less criminal is on the street tonight.”

Fowler was on parole for trafficking cocaine and had outstanding warrants with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
