Arrests made in Los Angeles airport baggage thefts

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WIAT) — Police have made several arrests in what they call the largest baggage theft operation at the Los Angeles Airport.

A long investigation uncovered that passengers’ property would turn up missing whenever certain LAX crew members handled the luggage.

Thousands of dollars of clothing, designer handbags, equipment and jewelry have been recovered.

Those arrested were primarily employees or ex-employees of companies contracted to handle luggage.
