McCarron makes 13-year-old’s wish come true

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron’s past few months have been wildly enthralling. The NFL hopeful finished his career at the University of Alabama in January and began preparing for the 2014 NFL Draft.

Just days ago, McCarron proposed to his girlfriend Katherine Webb, who said yes. It’s been an exciting string of events for McCarron. Last Wednesday, he was given the opportunity to give back and make a special boy’s wish come true.

McCarron took part in a special day with 13-year-old J.D., who is fighting an inoperable brain tumor.

J.D., who hails from Samson, Alabama, looks up to McCarron as a hero and was given the opportunity to spend the day with the former Alabama standout at North River Yacht Club.

The two ate lunch as McCarron shared stories from his playing days at Alabama and signed items for J.D. Later, they hit the links.

The special day was made even greater for J.D. as he was joined by his father, mother and younger brother, who played the role as the gallery, watching as McCarron and J.D. player their round of golf.

Later that day, McCarron met J.D. at the Mal Moore Athletic Complex to hang out some more.
