Auburn is working ahead of the learning curve this spring

Auburn, Ala. (WIAT)-The Auburn Tigers have a greater sense of confidence about them this spring season. The process of installation has already been done, now the core focus is on execution.

“Seeing how we were as opposed to last year already in 2 and half, three weeks into spring ball and everything, it looks good,” said linebacker Kris Frost. “It looks like we are really adjusting well and the guys that are new coming in that are going to have to step up and play for us, they are making plays.”

On the battle front, a position that continues to be highly contested is between Patrick Miller and Shon Coleman. Coleman won the fight against cancer and now has a solid chance to take over the lead role at left tackle.

“He did a solid job when he got in for us last year and now he is fighting for the starting position and you can see the urgency is there,” said Auburn coach Gus Malzahn. “He definitely looks like the guy we recruited four years ago when he was healthy.”

Coleman and Miller have both been impressive this spring but Malzahn says a decision won’t likely be made anytime soon.
