Brush fire breaks out in Morris

MORRIS, Ala. (WIAT) — A brush fire in Morris spread from a homeowner’s backyard Tuesday prompting the response from multiple fire departments.

Firefighters from the Glenwood Fire Department, Palmerdale Fire Department, the Morris Fire Department and the Forestry Commission responded to the brush fire just after 1 p.m.

A spokesperson with the Glenwood Fire Department says the fire started when a homeowner started a fire in the yard and spread due to Tuesday’s dry and windy conditions.

Firefighters contained the blaze before it reached the home, and the fire is now under control.
