BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A big ruling may change some of the standard features available in your next new car. Beginning in 2018, all new vehicles less than 10,000 pounds must be equipped with back-up cameras.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made the ruling on Monday. The camera has to show an area of 10 feet by 20 feet, directly behind the vehicle. The agency says the cameras will help reduce back-over accidents which cause about 210 deaths each year.
