MIDFIELD, Ala. (WIAT) — Voters in Midfield will head to the polls on Tuesday, April 8, but they won’t be electing anyone into office.
Instead, they’ll cast their ballots for a property tax vote.
Residents will vote on whether to approve a 14 mil property tax.
The current property tax is 9.8 mils.
If approved, the extra money will go to the city’s general fund, and it will likely go a long way.
Funds will be used to hire more police officers and firefighters, purchase a new fire truck and give city employees a cost of living increase.
The voting will take place at the Midfield Community Center.
