On Friday, the person accused of killing her says, he didn’t do it. Corderious McLellan is charged with capital murder for the shooting that claimed the life Sheri Williams in May of 2013.
McLellan has pleaded not guilty to the crime. The judge also denied him youthful offender status. He set McLellan’s trial date for August 11th.
Williams was hit by a stray bullet while standing in the doorway of her Gate City apartment. She was holding her 10-day-old son. The baby was not hurt.
People who knew her say Williams talked about moving her children out of Gate City, and becoming a police officer.
