GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — The Etowah County woman accused of forcing her 9-year-old granddaughter to run until the child collapsed and later died, is scheduled to go to trial in June.
Joyce Garrard was in court on Friday to get some answers from the judge. He granted her request to get physical evidence and written statements witnesses gave prosecutors. Judge Billy Ogletree said he’ll rule next month on her request recuse himself from the case.
Garrard’s trial is scheduled to being on June 23rd. She is charged with capital murder for the death of Savannah Hardin in 2012.
