HAYDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — In the middle of the morning rush hour, traffic on Highway 160 in Hayden was at a crawl while crews worked to clear up a wreck between a car and a school bus full of kids.

There were 14 kids on the bus, but thankfully, no one was injured. The mother and two children in the car involved in the accident with the bus were not hurt either.
Assistant Fire Chief Clay Jones says the woman was trying to avoid hitting another car that was stopped in front of her. Because of the wet roads, she lost control of the car, crashed into the school bus, and ended up in the ditch.
While emergency crews worked to get the bus, which wasn’t drivable, out of the road, their biggest concern was making sure worried parents went to the right place to reunite with their children.
“We’ve had several parents come to the scene, said Jones, “we’re asking them to go to the school because they have to sign refusals.” Parents had to sign a form saying their children didn’t need any medical treatment and didn’t have to go to the hospital.
Sixteen children and two adults were all able to walk away from this crash.
