MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) — Did you know nearly 26 million Americans suffer from diabetes? It’s that shocking statistic that moved hundreds to ride in and volunteer at Saturday’s Tour de Cure.
Cyclists of all ages, like CBS42’s own Chris Womack and Tiffany Westry turned out to pedal routes of a hundred, forty, seventeen or even just five miles. The goal was to raise, not only money, but also awareness for the American Diabetes Association.
Nearly two hundred riders competed in the Tour de Cure. Walmart was also the big sponsor of the event providing food, healthy snacks, and a $100,000 in donations to the American Diabetes Association.
