WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — At least two homes in a Boldo neighborhood were barricaded by flood waters Monday.
With several creeks overflowing, workers spent the day unclogging mud and leaves from drainage pipes as the waters subsided.
Jasper’s main thoroughfare, 118, had at least one lane shut down near a busy intersection. That meant several businesses, including the Days Inn, were left with just one entrance, which caught drivers off guard.
“They had to drive a car out of the ditch this morning,” said Demetrious Hughes. “She was leaving work and didn’t see it, and they had to come help her get pulled out.
Workers say most of the flooding has subsided, however, since the ground is so saturated, they worry more rain could cause more problems.
