BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police have arrested a woman for the murder of a beauty supply store owner over the weekend.

Birmingham Police Department spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says Chaya Anders, 63, was found dead inside Ebony Beauty Supply after a forced entry into the store.

Detectives have arrested and charged 25 year old Bianca Holman of Birmingham with the murder.

Customers first discovered something was wrong Saturday morning when they showed up for their hair appointments at Ebony Beauty Supply and the doors were locked.

They called police to check out the shop, and officers and the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived to investigate.

Edwards says Anders was found lying on her back with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Holman was identified by a witness as the person who robbed Jack’s Food Store on Friday around 12:33p.m. Witnesses also said that a person matching Holman’s description was at the scene of the homicide on Saturday.

Bianca Holman being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond for the capital murder warrant and a $150,000 bond for the robbery warrant.

“This was an extremely heinous crime where there was no regard for the victim or this community. I appreciate the Detectives and the various enforcement units for their investigative intensity in this case. This was a casebook investigation where we went from absolutely nothing to an identified suspect in a matter of hours. Our criminal homicides have decreased significantly so far this year but we realize a single homicide is one too many for the affected family.  We can’t prevent every homicide but we have solved every case so far this year. The bottom line is if you commit a homicide in this city, we will never stop looking for you,” said Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.
