Storms damage Tuscaloosa County family’s home

ELROD, Ala. (WIAT) — Monday’s heavy rains and high winds caused damage in numerous areas of Central Alabama. For one family in Elrod, Alabama, the storm damaged their home, damaging their porch.

The family says they got out of the house just in the nick of time.

They Browning family rode out the storm at a nearby gas station.

It wasn’t until daylight when they saw the full extent of the damage.

Their windows were busted, the roof was leaking, and their belongings were scattered in the grass. Gary Browning’s workshop was destroyed.

Worst of all, though, was the front porch, which was rearranged into puzzle pieces across the yard.

It’s the third time a storm has ripped the porch to shreds.

The family says the home is still livable on the inside. The biggest issue is finding a safe and easy way to get inside. Now, they’re just asking the community for prayers.
