Georgia Police chase ends in Alabama

Georgia police chase

CARROLLTON, Ala. (WIAT) — The investigation into a carjacking and robbery in Georgia ends here in Alabama along I-20. The whole chase was caught on dashboard cam.

Rodney Smith, 20, Kimberly Dugger, 20, and a small child took off from the police in a van. It ended when the van crashed into a tree. Smith and the child were transported to an area hospital. Dugger was airlifted to UAB Hospital. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.

Capt. Chris Dobbs of the Carrollton Police says that Smith was taken from the hospital into custody in Georgia. He is set for arraignment Wednesday afternoon. He has several charges against him including; arson, aggravated assault, armed robbery, cruelty to child 3rd degree and carjacking, with more charges possible.

Dugger is still at UAB and charges will be filed when she is medically cleared.

The fire in Georgia that originally led to the chase how now been ruled an arson.
