Monday flooding backs up some sewers in Jefferson County

BRIMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Heavy rains that caused flooding and damage in parts of Jefferson County Monday also caused backups and overflows to sanitary sewers in the county, deputy director Daniel White confirmed.

Forty-six sewers overflowed and 19 sewers backed up into private buildings as a result of the flooding.

White confirmed with CBS42 that employees with the city’s environmental services department are redirecting sewage from a damaged sewer line in Hoover.
