Gender ID made on remains found in downtown Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Investigators in Birmingham have made a gender identification on human remains found in downtown Birmingham March 28.

Johnny Long with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office says the remains are those of a white male who is 5-foot-11 to 6-foot tall.

It appears the body has been there for two to three years.

The remains were found behind the Alabama Cabinet Company on 3rd Avenue North on March 28.

Long says their next step is to check dental records and missing persons cases. He says it will take some time before an identity is made.
