Stop the violence vigil held in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A group of citizens gathered in north Birmingham in hopes of bringing an end to the violence. They also gathered to pay their respects to a woman killed inside her own business over the weekend.

The group congregated outside of Ebony Beauty Supply to remember Chaya Anders. Anders was found dead Saturday. Twenty-five-year-old Bianca Holman is charged in Ander’s murder. Those who showed up to remember Anders, feel there is a way to stop the violence in the Magic City.

Anders is the second person killed in that north Birmingham neighborhood in the past year. In September, sixteen-year-old Timothy Bryant was stabbed in the neck over a bicycle.
