Man shot and killed at McCalla truck stop

MCCALLA, Ala. (WIAT) — A woman has been charged with murder after a man was shot and killed at a truck stop in McCalla.

Around 6pm Tuscaloosa County Deputies and Woodstock Police responded to a call about at shooting at the Love’s Truck Stop at exit 100 off I-20/59 in McCalla.

When deputies arrived on the scene they found  36 year old Jamie R. Johnson lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB West for treatment.

Johnson later died as a result of his injuries.

Anita T. Hill, 51, has been charged with murder and is now in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with a $75,000.00 bond.

Investigators determined that Anita Hill’s son and the victim had been involved in a long term relationship together and were meeting at the truck stop to talk.

After a brief conversation, the Hill’s son returned to his car. The Johnson and Hill continued to talk. When the victim turned to walk away, the suspect pulled a handgun and shot the victim.

This incident is still under investigation.
