Over 4,500 synthetic marijuana packets seized in Tuscaloosa investigation


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — A two-month investigation by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force led to the seizure of 4,500 packets of synthetic marijuana known as “Spice,” and over $550,000 in cash made from sales.

Sgt. Brent Blankley says the synthetic marijuana seized during the investigation  has a street value of $225,000. He says the investigation is ongoing.

Carlos Dantonio Cotton, 34, was arrested on April 10 and charged with trafficking illegal drugs, according to Blankley.

Cotton is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $1 million bond.
