Country club developers appear before zoning committee in Irondale

IRONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — People in an Irondale neighborhood have been waiting for more than a year to find out what will happen with an old country club.

They’ve posted signs outside the old Mountain Brook Swim and Tennis Club.

Neighbors are protesting the developer’s request to have part of the property rezoned or commercial use.

The developer went before the Irondale City Council  Tuesday evening to appeal the planning and zoning committee’s denial of that request.

They could still appeal the decision by going to court.

The developers are listed as Mark Gold and Issac David. The planning and zoning did approve a request for them to build homes on part of the property in 2013.
