New scam targets Netflix customers

MGN Online

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Better Business Bureau is warning Netflix customers about a scam.

Con artists, who claim they work for the video streaming service, are trying to get money and private information from unsuspecting victims.  Netflix customers get an email or pop up ad directing them to a real looking, but fake, Netflix log in page.

The page gives a 1-800 number to call for support. When customers call the number, a con artist, posing as Netflix tech support, says they need remote access to the customer’s computer.

Once they have access, the scammers search for and download personal information. Computer experts say you should always be very careful before giving anyone remote access to your computer.
