MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) — Authorities have reopened Main Street in Montevallo following a bomb threat Wednesday night.
The threat was called in to the downtown area around 6pm.
A statement on the city’s website says that the Montevallo police department and the Jefferson County canine unit responded to the incident and found no threat on the scene.
The area was blocked to residents for about two hours while authorities searched the area.
The University of Montevallo warned faculty, students and staff to stay away from downtown Montevallo due to the bomb threat around 7pm, though the threat was not made to the university.
