Police involved in overnight suspect search through multiple cities

MOODY, Ala. (WIAT) —  Two men suspected of trying to steal an ATV from a home in Moody and firing a shot at the homeowner led police from several jurisdictions on a chase Thursday morning.

Moody’s Police Chief tells us two men backed a truck up to a home on Park Avenue in Moody and tried to steal the ATV. When the homeowner came outside, the men fired their gun.

The two men then left the house and were spotted by an officer in the area. Police chased the men for about 10 miles on 459 into Jefferson County. The men stopped their car near the Derby Parkway exit and ran away on foot.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies brought in their K-9 unit and searched with St. Clair County deputies, Irondale and Birmingham police officers for hours. They called off the search before four this morning.

The two men have not been found.

Moody police are processing the truck the men abandoned and tell us it was stolen from Birmingham.
