LOGAN MARTIN LAKE (WIAT) — State wildlife officials say there aren’t alligators in Logan Martin Lake, but people who live and fish at the lake disagree.
For years, people have claimed there are alligators in the waters, but more recently, the sightings have increased coupled with the disappearance of ducks and dogs.
During the day, the waters look quite calm, but people say late at night and early in the morning you can see red eyes and a large body moving through the water and even crawling through the apartment community.
Some say the alligators they’ve seen are around six-and-a-half feet long, and there are several of them.
CBS42 spoke with the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. They say they were out at the lake Thursday looking for the alligators but didn’t find any sign of it.
However, they say they will be back Friday to search again.
