Study: motor skills may diminish as early as 24

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Your brain might be slowing down a bit sooner than you think.

A new study suggests some people’s cognitive motor skills begin to slowly diminish after the age of 24.   Canadian researchers gathered data from a group of more than 3000 players as they played a fast-moving computer game.

The study revealed that players had a slow-down in a measure of cognitive speed that is known to be important for performance beginning around the age of 24.

But it’s not all bad news for those of us over 24.

The same study suggests, as some people’s performance slows, they became craftier, replacing speed with better strategy.
