WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — If your travels take you to west Alabama on Monday, be on the lookout for a few obstacles during your commute.
A major repaving project is underway for the future I-22. In Walker County, all westbound lanes of Corridor X will be closed from Industrial Boulevard to Exit 57 in Carbon Hill.
All traffic will be rerouted through Highway 78 in Jasper.
Work could take as long as 12 weeks, but the plan is to have the lanes reopened before the July 4th weekend.
When work is finished on the westbound lanes, work on the eastbound lanes will soon begin
