Alabama applies for grants for flood relief

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Homeowners and businesses that were flooded two weeks ago may be in for some good news soon. They might get some help making all of those costly repairs.

The State of Alabama has asked the U.S. Small Business Administration for flood relief.

It applies to people in Bibb, Blount, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Tuscaloosa and Walker counties

If the SBA grants the request, homeowners, renters and business owners will be able to get low-interest disaster loans.

CBS42 will continue to track the progress of the request and will provide information on how to apply if it is approved.
