HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — The Hoover Board of Education is holding a special called meeting Tuesday evening. The meeting began at 3:30 p.m. and quickly went into executive session.
State Superintendent Dr. Tommy Bice plans to meet with board members.
He claims their decision to charge students fees to ride a bus to school could be against the law.
The bus fees are part of the board’s plan to save the school system $2 million dollars a year.
The Hoover School Board voted last summer to do away with bus service altogether, beginning next fall, which didn’t sit well with parents.
Most parents were more upset about that than the idea of having to pay money so their children could ride the bus.
CBS42 will have more on the meeting on CBS42 News at 10.
