TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — A Russian delegation got a taste of southern hospitality in Tuscaloosa on Monday. The group visited the RISE school and the students put on a big show to welcome their guests.
The Russian delegation is in Alabama because they are interested in starting programs, like RISE, for children with disabilities in Russia.
Tatiana Cherkasova, a member of the delegation, said, “We try to advocate and influence the changes in the law, and what we see here, of course, is extremely important because it creates new ideas, it creates new opportunities for improvement and advancement.”
This trip has been 3 years in the making. It started because of the RISE music-therapy program.
