TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — It was the second building that was hit and destroyed in Tuscaloosa on April 27th. The loss had a crippling effect on the city. The Curry Building acted as a municipal service building, housing the EMA, Fire and Police, Facilities, and Environmental Services.
In a matter of seconds, 78% of the Environmental Service Department’s fleet was rendered useless or destroyed at a time when they were needed the most. Since that time, the men and women who work there have stepped up in order to continue delivering services to the residents of Tuscaloosa.
Today, they proudly unveiled their new facility almost three years to the day after the storm. We’ll take you on a tour and share the survivor’s stories tonight at 5 and 6pm.
