Property taxes could be on the rise in Trussville

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — If you’re in the market to buy a house it might cost you more in Trussville.

City leaders met last night to put the finishing touches on a property tax increase that voters approved in February.

The new 7 mil tax will raise roughly $1.2 million a year that will be used to build or renovate two elementary schools.

The new school will be built near the magnolia subdivision.

The old historic high school near downtown will be completely renovated and used as the other new elementary school.

The tax goes into effect in October.
