Work underway to fix NOAA transmitters

NOAA Transmitter

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — If your weather radio isn’t working there may be some good news coming. CBS42 told you about much of the area losing reception on NOAA weather radios.  A transmitter on top of Red Mountain is down, and crews will have to make their way to the top of the tower to fix it.

We received an update from NOAA, and they tell us that they may have the transmitter back up and running early next week, instead of sometime in May.

In the meantime, you can stay weather aware by downloading our CBS42 weather app.

For IOS users, you can get it in the iTunes App Store: Click Here.
