Man charged with manslaughter after striking and killing pedestrian

ADAMSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — Jefferson County authorities arrested and charged a man with manslaughter Friday after the truck he was driving struck and killed a pedestrian on Forestdale Boulevard in Adamsville.

The accident happened at 9:30 a.m. when Joseph Pool, 32, veered his truck off the road and hit a pedestrian walking along Highway 78.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says Pool was taken into custody on the scene.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the accident.

Pool is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000 bond.
