Dr. Steve Nowlin’s days as superintendent of Jefferson County Schools may be over. Jefferson County Board of Education President Jennifer Parsons confirmed today that the Board’s attorneys are in talks with Nowlin. Nowlin came to the district from Lee County in January of 2013. In a release from the school district, Parsons stated that Nowlin’s departure is not based on any wrongdoing, but on “philosophical differences on how best to maintain educational progress for the school system.”
Once the Board approves a departure deal, they will immediately begin a search for a new superintendent. An interim superintendent may be named during the search process.
