John Servati, 21, was killed when a retaining wall collapsed inside his home on 22nd Avenue Monday evening.

Servati, a junior, was a student-athlete at the University of Alabama and is listed on the athletic department’s website as a member of the swimming and diving team,

“His parents, just talking with them earlier today, you know they had to bunker down in Tupelo last night and had kind of weathered the storm and had really felt like, ok, we made it through that,” said Jeff Norris. “Then they got the call about John.  So I’m just encouraging your viewers and listeners to prayer for the Servati family.”

It’s unclear at this time if Servati’s death was directly related to the tornadoes that touched down in Tuscaloosa County.

Servati was taken to DCH Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
