CBS42 reporter live on-air when EF-2 tornado hits Graysville

GRAYSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: A preliminary report by the National Weather Service has ruled the tornado that Graysville, Alabama late Monday night an EF-2 tornado. They state that the damage is consistent with an EF-2 tornado with winds reaching an estimated speed of 115 mph.

Damaged 42 carORIGINAL: As storms strengthened and fired up across the state of Alabama Monday evening, CBS42’s Mike McClanahan and photojournalist Marlon Price were in the middle of it all. McClanahan and Price joined others inside a Marathon gas station to take shelter as a tornado passed through the area earlier Monday night. CBS42 Sports Director Patrick Claybon and producer Chris McCulley also took shelter in a back room of the gas station with about a dozen other people. A gas pump fell on the CBS42 news vehicle parked at the gas station as a result of the storm.
