Search teams recover teen’s body from Highland Lake

BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The body of a St. Clair County teen who drowned in Highland Lake has been recovered.  The Highland Lake Police Department released a statement Sunday evening confirming that the victim was recovered around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Rescue units from several central Alabama agencies searched Highland Lake for the teen who fell from a boat last week. Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington tells 42 News the 15-year-old was in a boat with two others at time of the accident.

The teenager was working with a private company that was inspecting docks for the town of Highland Lake, according to the sheriff.

The identity of the teen has not been released.
