KIMBERLY, Ala. (WIAT) — A church severely damaged by last week’s tornadoes held a special service on Sunday. The Kimberly Church of God went back to its roots with a tent service in the parking lot of the recently damaged church.
Pastor Stan Cooke says his congregation isn’t going anywhere, “I don’t see us going to another site. Everyone wants to stay here and close and work on the property to clean it up and maintain it as much as possible.”
He added construction on some parts of the church should be finished in a few months. But work on a new building for the Sunday school wing and youth department will take at least a year.
