CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Former University of Alabama standout and current Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus was arrested Monday in Cleburne County on drug charges.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office says Dareus was arrested around 10 p.m. Monday night and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Pro Bowl lineman was booked into the jail and released 45 minutes later on $3,000 bond.

Dareus, a Birmingham native, played his high school football for Huffman High School before becoming a defensive star at the University of Alabama.

He was named the BCS National Championship Game defensive MVP in 2010 and was the third pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
