BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — More than ever, nurses are called to the forefront of healthcare. Tuesday begins National Nurses Week. To commemorate the occasion, members of the Birmingham Black Nurses Association placed a wreath in Kelly Ingram Park on Monday.
The wreath was placed at the memorial of Mrs. Pauline Fletcher, who was the first African-American registered nurse in Alabama.
National Nurses Week runs through May 12th.
