PELHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – While most of the area was asleep, emergency crews in Pelham, including Hazmat crews, were called out to the Oak Mountain Lodge.
Pelham Police Officers had discovered an active meth lab operating in one of the rooms. One suspect was taken into custody, while surrounding rooms were evacuated for safety purposes.
Pelham and Alabaster Fire Departments, and the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force were on the scene. Investigators with the SCDETF removed the meth lab and are continuing to investigate the scene.
A press release from the Pelham Police says criminal charges are forthcoming.
This is not the first meth lab bust at the Oak Mountain Lodge. There was another bust back in September of 2013.
