WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIAT) — You can blame extreme weather on climate change. That’s the finding of a new federal scientific report released by the White House.
The 840-page report warns the nation needs to be prepared for superstorms like Sandy, deadly tornadoes, record rainfalls and devastating droughts.
However, Republicans, fossil energy groups, and conservative think tanks call the report “overblown”. They are calling it an election year ploy to scare voters.
An Associated Press analysis of federal weather records shows, in the past 51 months, states have set 80 records for heat, 33 for being too wet, 12 for lack of rain, and 3 for cold.
