Early morning fire on Gamma Street

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A fire broke out early Thursday morning in downtown Birmingham, not far from UAB. It happened around 2 am at a home at the corner of Gamma Street and 4th Avenue South.

The fire initially came in as a vehicle fire but upon arrival the Birmingham Fire Department realized that an unoccupied house next door to the car was also on fire.

Both were quickly extinguished. There is no word on the cause of the fires. No injuries were reported.
