ALABASTER, Al (WIAT) — A mothers day disaster becomes a moms night out debacle! That’s the premise for a new movie that was shot here in Birmingham and premiered tonight in Alabaster. The 7 p.m. show let out a short while ago but many people who attended tonight’s premiere stayed to meet the cast and directors.
Brothers and co-directors Jon and Andrew Erwin are beaming with pride at the success of moms night out. The pair seem only too happy to talk to the thousands of men, women and children who turned out for the Alabaster premiere of their movie. The duo, who are Magic City natives, say this warm reception for their movie is overwhelming.
“Oh it was so funny,” said mom Becky Kelley. “I laughed through the whole thing.”
“I could totally relate to this movie,” said mom Angela Hawkins. “Does it wound like something you and your girlfriends would do? Yes, if I got a moms night out. I have seven so this was my moms night out.”
So how successful was tonight’s premiere? Well nine of the theaters here at AmStar are showing the movie at once. And all showings of Moms Night Out sold out Friday night.
