Officer involved shooting outside Foxx Trap strip club in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)- The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that took place in the parking lot of the Foxx Trap around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to a Birmingham police spokesperson, two Foxx Trap security guards got into a physical altercation which lead the armed security guard to shoot the other, who was unarmed.

An off-duty Birmingham police officer, who was working security at the club, ordered the shooter to put down his weapon. When the guard did not listen, the Birmingham officer shot the security guard several times. The security guard was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured security guard was not on duty at the time of the shooting.
