Baby arrives in time for Mother’s Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Mother’s Day is as special to Christy Hays as it is for any mom. “One thing I learned from my mom is just to love unconditionally and to extend grace to those who need it”
But Sunday wasn’t just any old Mother’s Day for Christy just hours earlier she gave birth to an 8 pound 7 ounce boy.

He isn’t her first child, but her third. “I’ve got a son and I’ve got a daughter, and now I have another son,” says Christy. And she knows all too well being a mother can be a tough but rewarding job.
“The challenges are knowing what is best for your child, but the best things are loving them and training them and teaching them”

But this delivery was different because dad couldn’t be by her side. He serving a tour of duty overseas. “We’re having to be a mom and a dad and making decisions when daddy’s not here to make them.”
And even though Christy must overcome so many obstacles, she is grateful. “I love being a mom, its just a blessing to know that the lord entrusts me with these children.”
