We are proud that our own Mike McClanahan was recognized by the Governor for work that he has done while on the job. Mike was invited to stand with the Governor as he signed a bill into law that came, in large part, by work Mike did here at CBS42.
Mike shined a light on problems at George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens after the cemetery closed without warning leaving many families in limbo. Mike’s work caught the attention of Representative Jaundalynn Givan who introduced the law that changes the way cemeteries are operated in our state.
Mike McClanahan says that actually seeing the direction of the story change from chaos to desperation and then to determination, and then hope to see the cemetery reopen was really remarkable. Watching it come full circle is somethings he says you don’t get to do every year in this business.
