A look inside the new WIAT 42 News

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — In April of 2014, a team of WIAT 42 News management, engineers, set designers and a professional lighting staff set off on a mission.

The mission included hearing what the viewers wanted and building a news viewing experiences that would deliver the best technology, the best look, all while delivering the best newscast to the people ov Central Alabama.

“Our viewers demand the very best when it comes to severe weather forecasting. This type of coverage requires an intricate working environment while remaining technology focused,” said Kathy Mosher-Boule.

A Storm Track Weather Center was constructed to show our team in action, in addition to adding a large key wall for maps and forecasts.

The new Storm Track Weather Center brings home to WIAT 42 News the expertise of our meteorological team and showcases severe weather that often effects where we leave.

As for taking the wraps of the new bells and whistles, the WIAT 42 News staff summed it up best.

“I really am at a loss for words,” said Dave Holland.

A new set, from floor to ceiling, and the latest technology to deliver Coverage You Can Count on every day.

The new look is impressive but I would like for the correct time to be shown at all times some where on the screen. Especially in the morning.
